EVE StarforgePrivacy policy

What this site collects when you read it, and the cookies its ads use.

What the site collects

There are no reader accounts or comments on EVE Starforge, and the site sets no cookies of its own while you read it.

At the end of a guide you can vote it up or down without an account. When you vote, the site sets one cookie, voter, holding a random code, so that your browser has one vote per guide and you can change it or take it back. The vote is stored with a scrambled form of that code and nothing that says who you are. The cookie lasts a year, and deleting it only means your next vote counts as a new one.

The only other cookie the site sets is the sign-in of the site's admin.

Like any web server, it logs each request: the page, the time, your browser and your IP address. The logs are used to keep the site running and secure, and nothing else.

Ads and their cookies

The site shows ads from Google AdSense, and they pay for it.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your earlier visits to this site or to other sites.
  • Google's advertising cookies let it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
  • You can turn off personalised ads in Google's ad settings. To turn off other vendors' cookies for personalised ads, use aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, Google's consent message asks for your choice before ads use cookies for personalisation, and you can change it later.

Google explains what it does with this data in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and How Google uses cookies in advertising.

Other services

The site is served through Cloudflare, which handles every request to deliver and protect the site and may set a cookie for that. Its privacy policy covers what it does.

Ship and item images load straight from the EVE Online image server (images.evetech.net), so your browser asks it for them. The sign-up link in the recruit box goes to the EVE Online site, where its own privacy policy applies.
